Alex Mannone was born in Italy as Alessandro Giuseppe Mannone. Alex grew up in the town of Marsala, on the island of Sicily. In 1981 the Mannone family moved to NY. School would prove to be a testing ground for Alex's ability to assimilate. Accents and cultural differences weren't exactly assets in the adolescent world of a middle school. The challenge to "fit in" and Alex's isolation from his peers in his first few years in the states proved to be essential in developing his love for cinema and consequently acting. Films proved to be both beneficial in helping Alex to lose his accent and a great escape from the school of hard knocks that helped develop a thick skin. As a result he has come to excel at playing strong characters. In the last 10 years he has worked and studied with a wide array of industry professionals in front of and behind the camera. Alex has worked with independent productions, student films, studied with Stephanie Fury at the Van Mar Academy of Motion Picture Arts, Doug Hutchison in his exclusive workshop "The Art of Stillness," and attained a re-accuring day player role on Port Charles and General Hospital. He's worked under the watchful eye of such acclaimed directors as Michael Bay, Nancy Meyers, Mel Gibson and Martha Coolidge. Alex believes that no matter the size of the production or role, when it comes to acting, the journey is the destination. |
